Pull Up a Chair

How’s your Trigger Tuesday?  Isn’t this a lovely inspiration from Victoria Magazine.  Alica found this for the Moxie Fab Trigger Tuesday Challenge.  So the challenge was to come up with something Lovely on the Green.

I’m actually not sure if this counts for the challenge, because it’s not a card, it’s a favour box, but it’s what I’ve made.  :D

Here’s what I drew & made into an svg.  It’s not the best template, I thinks it’s off a little, but then again so was I when I drew it lol.  Nothing you can’t fudge.

Used:  Stampin’ Up! DSP, Stampin’ Up Flower Punch, Olive Ribbon, Make it Count Stamp Set, Bashful Blue Ink (stamped off), Certainly Celery Marker.

Paper Craft Planet’s 3D Challenge this week, 3D52, is basket weaving!   There are so many different weaves out there & I’m hoping you’ll like to try one of them or share & show us a different basket weave that you know about.  Be sure to upload your basket weaving to the Paper Craft Planet site {here’s a tutorial on how to do that} & check out the 3D 52 album.  Never tried uploading a photo to Paper Craft Planet?  Here’s a step-by-step tutorial for adding photos to the PCP Gallery.  Once their in the gallery & TAGGED with 3d52, I can find them & add them to the album!

Here’s my take on CraftyPod’s Diane Gilleland basket design is based on the traditional Danish Woven Heart. Check out her tutorial here!  In order to make her basket you’ll need to understand how to do the weave.  It’s not difficult, but unless you’ve done it once, it can be a bit funky.  So here is a great little tutorial from Gingerbread Snowflakes, on danish woven hearts–how this cute weave works.

Top:

It’s a little narrow basket, perfect for a few treats:

I just love the woven technique–looks cute & finished inside & out.

How about Laura Canale’s Basket Tutorial?  Here’s my take on her basket.  This one is a bit more complex & can be more time consuming if you sponge each little strip of paper, but look at the results … how cute!  I added one more half strip to the weave to make the over/under weaves even, but otherwise the same technique.  Here’s my take on it:

Inside.  I didn’t need to add a bottom to the basket, but I like the velour CS, so I did.

Trying to cut down on time, you don’t need to sponge the strips, but it is a cute effect.

Here’s the Irish Blessing.

Now when I first made Laura’s Basket, I wasn’t near my computer & I thought I can do it from memory.  lol, I know better than to trust my memory.  But although it wasn’t the same, it was a fun mistake, that ended up to be a Narrower version, that could probably hold a water bottle :D  What I did differently, is putting the narrower strips for the base, I think.  lol  I had a lot of strips left over anyhow.

Here’s the inside:

How about Monica’s Super Easy & Cute Basket that was featured on Paper Craft Planet.  I think I’m going to the the kids to make one of these on the March Break … & me too :D .  She has a Video Tutorial to follow along with, easy peasy!  I used some Stampin’ Up! DSP to have a go with her technique.

Here’s the inside:

3D Catch Up

Just a little catch up on the 3D Projects from Paper Craft Planet, before I work on this week’s 3d52 project.  Lately, I think if I wasn’t trying to catch up, I don’t know what I’d be doing.

The 3d50, a gift bag template from Adela, with a clothes pin twist.

Check out More in the PaperCraftPlanet 3d50 Clothespin Gift Bag Album.

Here’s a cute little planter, that Adela provided the cute template here.  Here’s my go at 3D49, Adela’s Planter:

Check out More Planters in the Paper Craft Planet, 3d49 Planter Album.

Lesson learned, it’s never to late to try out a super fun project!  Now off to work on 3d52 for tomorrows 3D Paper Craft Planet Project–I hope you like it!

White on White

Moxie Fab World had a fun challenge for Diggin’ on Doilies & Lace.  My grandmother used to crochet GORGEOUS doilies–the details were incredible.  I still have a massive one she made in cream that covers my small round table.  She made an intricate huge one for my mums massive harvest table.  I can’t imagine how long it took her, but she was quick at it.

Here’s my go with an all white card using Doilies, dimensionals, & a couple of punches.

Here’s a close up of the good ole’ paper doily:

Are you ready to see the most realistic Paper Purse Template EVAH?!!  Adela is the template queen.  I was floored when I saw it & couldn’t wait to try it.  Here’s Adela (AR Creations) Haute Tote.  {I adore the name of the template too}:

The Brown paper is the cool sorta Faux Suede called ‘Velvet Papers’ I bought at Heathers Stamping Haven here in Ottawa. The other is from The Paper Company called Decorative Paper Gold Foil Leaf On Ivory.  Because I made such a small tote, I only used less than 6×6 of the decorative paper.

There’s a pocket on the inside–SQUEAL! So darned adorable.

I used my Cricut Machine, with the svg file, she included.  However, the fanciest piece of equipment you need  is a pair of Scissors, because there is a PDF that you can print out, paste of some fancy paper & cut out.  It’s a surprisingly simple template, so it really wouldn’t take long to cut out.

For those of you who do have Sure Cuts A Lot Software that facilitates the computer talking to the Cricut Machine, it is a bit faster.  I have the small cricut machine, the 6″x12″, not the 12″x12″, so I sized the template down by 1/2.  Nothing fancy, this is how you do it.  In the Sure Cuts a Lot Software, after you have imported the SVG & it’s bigger than you want OR you want to cut out a few at a time, you go under the Object Menu, to transform & then to Scale. Under the Drop Down Menu, choose Percentage, keep proportions & go to 50% or whatever.  Each time you import each of the pieces of the purse, be sure to scale them the same.

I am so making more of these.  Thanks, Adela, you rule!

Miss U Scrapbook

So PaperCraft Planet had a wonderful 3d project this week, 3D51, Time Flies.  Inspired by Sunghee’s gorgeous Calendar Scrapbooks, I took out the calendar part & replaced it with some journaling.  I took some photos from around the house that reminded me of my DH, who’s been away on business.  It’s been hard on the family.  I have no idea how Army spouses do it for so long.

Like I said, for us it hasn’t so much flown, as gone really slowly these last weeks and each photo is a picture from around the house that reminds me of my love.  I know, I know corny, I have turned into a teenager hopelessly in love again.  Snap out of it!  I’m sure when he comes back I’ll be back to complaining about socks on the floor & shaving bits in the sink.  LOL.

It did take me longer than an hour to do, because I don’t have a printer, so I went to Costco & printed out one sheet of 12×12 with 3×3 photos.  The book itself is essentially 3×3, with a 1 inch spine.

Here’s what they say …

Isn’t that a fun inspiration from Moxie Fab World? This weeks Trigger Tuesday is from Kim Wilson.  She found this Inspiration Board by Kelly Oshiro via Santa Barbara Chic.  What happy Spring Colours, I loved it!

Here’s my go with those colours & themes.  The colours are off, because I forgot to WB & I am no good at correcting colour in PS.  I used Quick & Cute Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set, Pumpkin Pie Ink, Sandy Lion Bunnies PP, Martha Stewart Ribbon, Dimensionals, & White CS.

Here’s a cute idea, I originally saw in a Valentines version from the awesome talented & inspiring, Elizabeth Kartchner.  I changed it up a bit for Easter & used some ric rac, to add stability while sewing the garland.  Over, under, Over, Under, eggs, facing same direction … it was rather meditative actually.  Took me about 15-20 minutes to SEW together, but that is with distractions, like forgetting to have a full bobbin spool.

The Wild Raspberry Papers from K & Company, I LOVE!  So after drawing up an Egg shape in Illustrator, & then saving it as a SVG file, I cut it out using SCAL software to talk to my Cricut Machine.  It can be done by hand, but I had these identical Nine 8″x6″ papers cut in minutes.

How long is it?  dunno, but just over two {2} piano lengths.

So I could string them across the piano … which is a bit dusty, which makes me wonder just how much practicing the kids have done this week.  hmmm.

Here’s my little egg shape …

Moxie Fab World had a fun challenge to make a card with a creative ways to use embroidery floss.  Sounded like too much fun for me to turn down!  Here’s my fun with Floss attempt ..

Here’s my card.  Yes, knit with tooth picks, while the kids were in swimming lessons tonight.  Did I get looks, yes.  ”maybe she wants to feel like a giant, maybe she’s just lost it.”  Nope, just having fun.  Thanks for the fun inspiration.

Cake Inspired

Time for a challenge from Embellish Magazine.  This challenge is to add a decorative border, using paper.

I thought the cake image from Queen of Tartes was pretty cool.  I did my best at drawing this in Illustrator & then saving it as an SVG & then using my cricut machine to cut.  As for the colours, I had some of this paper from Karen Avery called Orchids that hit the green, yellow, pink & peach targets fairly well.  The sentiment is from Vintage Postcard, Stampin’ Up!  Along with Cameo Coral & Green Galore Markers & some embroidery floss.

Honestly, the colours are there …

Here’s my card:

Here’s my illustrator drawing.  It’s saved as a jgp file here, for some reason, my blog won’t upload svg files & I don’t have time to figure out why.
