Making a Paper Frame

Well, I’m home with the 3 kids today, no day camps, no cottages, no buddies around, & a generally rainy day. Think of me will ya. The boys are making paper airplanes & Emma is drawing. I squeezed out a quick hour in the craft room to have a go with two challenges in 1. (Paper Craft Planet’s 3D Tuesday & Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge!)

The 3D Challenge, from Tammy, for 3D72, “You’ve Been Framed”.

This frame is made out of paper, using a template I found from the very clever Inna of Inna’s Creations.

The owl ‘Spin a mood’ in the middle, reminded me of those casino roulette tables that James Bond plays, so that’s where the second Challenge from Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge comes in CSCC89, Casino Royale! I don’t think the Flower is much of a silhouette, but I’m hoping I still kinda’ hit the challenge.

Be sure to check out other frame examples over at Paper Craft Planet!

Some more plucking at the July Scrappy Sunday Sketches from Paper Craft Planet.  I suppose I should have played with the Channel Mixer to change the pics to B/W, but it was just so Emma-Sian to have the multi colours, I kept them as is!  Hard to believe my oldest baby is 11.

Papers:  Crystal Wilkerson.

hello friend

Time for Paper Craft Planet’s 3D challenge, 3d70, a Hanging Basket.

Adela, from Creations by AR created this template for us to use!   Thanks, Adela!

This was a very quick project & it’s perfect for a few little cookies or goodies as a surprise for a friend …

Be sure to check out the 3d70 album for more fun interpretations!

Just plugging away at Paper Craft Planet’s Scrappy Sundays.  Be sure to check it out & have some fun with either traditional or digi layouts!

Holiday Stars

I went with a quick card for this week for the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge, #87, The Holiday …

Here’s where the inspiration came from.  I’d link in the video here, but if you start watching the movie midway through, it ruins it.

here’s the inside of the trifold card …

The papers are from Stampin’ Up!, (ink Cameo Coral) as well as the Star Punches & the sentiment (Quick & Cute), the eyelettes are from Making Memories.

i {♥} papers

My appologies, but  better late than never!  We have a really special blog hop and challenge going on all around Paper Craft Planet (that started Sunday, and Tuesday for my belated Canadian readers, thank you Customs Canada) It’s all about BLING! You can call it paper make-up, jewelry, bling, whatever — it’s that little bit of glaze, glitter and glam that you add to your cards to give them that “finishing touch”. The Supernovas are using the new Petal Press stamps, Summer Garden , for our projects from i{heart}papers.

OK, now it’s your turn! Make a card with a lot of dazzle and you could win the new Petal Press stamps, Summer Garden , for our projects from i{heart}papers. All you need to do is tag your card “iheartbling” and upload it to the Planet. We’ll be keeping an album for everyone that shows off all the entries so far!

Here’s my go with this lovely set that to me called for some pearls …

Looking for some inspiration? Check out what the other Supernovas made!

Marigoldy Wearable

Paper Craft Planet’s 3D Challenge this week, 3d69, is Wearable Art.  It uses Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel and layered Flowers.

My DD isn’t into the ribbon thing, she’s more grungy–raggedy-denim & that’s where I started with this project.

I repurposed this old watch that for whatever reason, I hadn’t thrown out.  (Anybody remember the Oprah watch-ribbon craze?  Well this was my cheapy watch that I had some fun with & then the battery died & I think it was more expensive to change the battery than to replace the cheapo watch).  lol

and just made the soft side toward the wrist & the bumpy side is where I adhered the flower.

And Bob’s Yur Uncle, a little shabby-chique brooch-bracelet for DD.

Here’s a link, for those who want the svg, of the “marigold-ish” type layered flower I drew.

Football Fever

So the Cinema Challenge Saturday Creative Challenge, #86 this week was Bend it Like Beckham. Good choice being that the Soccer Fever is high. My kids got right into it, cheering for Germany today.

So with this challenge, what else could you make but a soccer ball???  This SVG was a freebie Beth, at My Cricut Scrapbooking!  Thanks, Beth!

Glazed Washers

Okay, I have to say when I saw this week’s 3D Tuesday Challenge, I was a bit skeptical.  I dunno if mine will turn out, but I had most all the supplies, so why not give it a go.

After working on it, I have to say, I LOVED THIS challenge!  Paper Craft Planet’s 3D68, “Washed Away” challenge from Silvia was so much fun!  I am a bit of an impatient person, so waiting for the glue to dry was difficult for me.  I followed the directions pretty closely, except instead of glueing the paper to the washer & then waiting, I just used the diamond glaze to glue the paper to the washer & then the glaze on top at the same time.

I cut my patterned paper with 2 round nestabilities that best matched the washer (easy-peasy!), so really, like I said the hardest part of this craft was WAITING a day for the diamond glaze to dry.  You can see my washer balanced on an empty thread bobbin here …

But look how it turns out!

Now, I must admit, I didn’t have ALL of the supplies.  I didn’t have a clasp, so I just made a slip knot in the leather cording.  I like it like that too, because it’s adjustable.  Just tie two knots and then it slides, but because of the leather, it holds in place.

Don’t forget to trim the ends.

Check out the 3D68 album for more inspiring washer necklace patterns.

Thanks, Silvia for all the links over at Paper Craft Planet’s 3D Tuesday group.

Carrousel Mobile

This week’s Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge, #85, is the lovely musical State Fair.  I adore musicals.  I think it started when I saw those classics on TV as a kid (Wizard of Oz, South Pacific, Grease … ).

It was a lazy, rainy day here, and I was looking at the movie on You Tube & thinking of fun summer Fairs & I thought I’d make a Mobile:

Not too fancy.  I looked online at many different well balanced mobiles & the math behind it, but then I cheated & just went with easy.

The top of the carrousel is a circle cut out of American Crafts HEAVY Glittered CS.

Cut into a “pac man” shape. :D

And then pull the circle in & adhere so it becomes kind of a cone shape.

Then some scalloped punch action.

Adhered with tape.

I could have left it there, but being that it was a mobile & you would see the ugly under side of that, I cut out two more circles.  The larger of which, I cut some darts/fringes.  The smaller circle was the one I used to hang the ribbon on, so it was just easier for me if I did that separately.

Some seldomly used, but loved Sizzix Die Cuts.  I love these old things, they can cut through fabric, heavy CS … no problem.

My CS, was 1 sided glitter, so I flipped the paper & cut it twice, in order to tape the two haves together & have a place to hide the ribbon coming down.

My youngest was watching me pain-stakingly cut little triangles … “MUM, why not use the star punch, it has triangles on it”.  BRILLIANT CHILD OF MINE.  Simple is best, wtg Liam, you just saved me a bunch of tediousness.

The “chain” was from the Dollarstore, I think it was meant for making jewelry.  I tied a knot in it so that it stayed in place.  The knot is hidden anyway.
