Archive for October, 2009
I thought I’d try out a new Colour Inspiration Challenge from Arielle, called Colour Q. This is Colour Q #4, that started on the Tuesday 27th October. I think it’s a week long, so I hope I’m playing along at the right time.
I used this Watering Bucket template that I found on Splitcoaststampers, from Helen Orr. Yes, I know, the glue isn’t dry. Impatient me.
Here’s the other side.
Thanks for the fun!
The original template is from Martha Stewart, that crafty woman. So here’s Martha’s Coffin:
Used: Old Olive CS, Déjà Views Global Views double sided patterned paper, Black CS, Martha Stewart Edge Punch, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder with Home Accents Cartridge, cording from my sewing stash, tag punch, Olive Stazon Ink, Martha Stewart clear Halloween Stamps Goo Alphabet.
This week’s sketch might require a bit of rough draft so you can get the journaling around the outside of the page. I think it looks cool ever since I saw Ali Edwards do it on her layouts & ESPECIALLY if you can do it in your own handwriting, how personal. Digi scrappers & traditional scrappers, hopefully you’ll have some fun with this. I did forget to sketch in embellishments, with all the pics on the page … um sorry I’m sure you’ll all be able to find somewhere to put them in (for me I just did it around the photos themselves).
The sketch is in 12″x12″ square format, but you can switch it up to fit your scrapbook (flip or rotate the sketch, and move things around a bit, but try to stay true to the basic outline of the sketch. Have Fun!!) I’ve always scrapbooked in 8.5×11″, but the basic square template is there. Anyhow, I hope some of you will have the chance to play along. We’d love to see some of you family & friends uploaded & tagged sb102509 so we can put them in album.

Here’s my version (in 8.5×11″–cause that’s how I scrap!)
Well, it’s been ages since I’ve participated in a Colour Inspiration Challenge (family, housework & life gets busy no?) at PaperCraftPlanet, but this photo, that Millie chose, from hiren info, was so inspiring I really wanted to try & make something. (I think this is pcpcolor39.)
Here’s my little pram. As close to a copy of my own that my 3 babies all were in … sniff, sniff, just a moment. We actually had a pink musical hippo pull toy on our pram, not a pink bear, but there ya go.
The blanket is textured Paper, embossed with an argyle Cuttlebug folder.
The template itself, was not a “pram” template. I did find one free pram template, but it was sized oddly, so I couldn’t make heads or tails of it. Instead I used a Car-Van template from the Crafty PC (& just didn’t cut the wheels out). You can see it better if you hold the pram upside down … it sorta looks like a mini truck. Or maybe not, but that was “the” template.
The Sun Shade part of it, I just eyeballed with a Coluzzle Oval Cutter. I think I made them a bit big.
Used: Night of Navy CS, Bashful Blue CS, Pink Pirouhette CS, Rhinestone Brads, Circle Punches 3/4″, 1″, 1 1/4″, Martha stewart Clear Dotted Stamps, White EP, Versa mark Ink, Marvy Bear Punch, Argyle CuttleBug Embossing Folder, Coluzzle Large Oval Cutter, Scallop Edge Punch, Pop Dots.
Over at Paper Craft Planet’s 3D Tuesday Challenge, Adela provided a really cute tiny cookie box template. This is my go at 3d34, Kookie, using Adela’s Cookie Box Template. I used the Stampin’ Up! 1 1/4″ circle punch for the window at the front.
Just wrap the cookies in cellophane, oh great, now I have that John C. Reilly song from Chicago in my head.
The cookies are those minty girl guide cookies (my neighbour sold them & Kiera always knows that I am good for 2 boxes). Wonder when the vanilla & chocolate split box is being sold … mmmm.
Used: Fashion District Me & My Big Ideas Matte Pack, Mellow Moss Textured CS, Corner Rounder, Make It Count Stamp Set, Orange Embroidery Floss, Orange Eyelet, Cellophane, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch Stampin Up!
Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #54 this week was Finding Nemo! Be sure to play along this week (you have until Thursday, October 22nd get your creation linked). Taylor is giving away YOUR choice of the newest holiday stamp sets that have just been released fromTaylored Expressions as blog candy!
This was the first movie I ever took my oldest to in the theatres. Emma was 4 at the time & I watched kids leave the theatre in tears because of the first 10 minutes of tragic loss. Isn’t that always the way? My Emma-Sian simply leaned over & paused eating her popcorn, “what happend to the mum, she dead?” ”yes, she was eaten”, “okay” and then she continued watching. I asked her when she got home if that movie bothered her & she simply said, “Mum, it’s just a movie!!” Right.
I don’t know why I found this part of the movie so entertaining, but I did:
Here’s my card:
Yes, I did have these Sizzix-Sizzlit Fish Die Cuts, probably, because it was on sale & probably for a kids project at one point or another. Honestly never thought I’d use them on a card. LOL. Never say never.

I saw Kristina Werner’s A Year in Cards: October 2009 over at Two Peas and thought the trio of cards was too cute so I thought I’d give it a go. I must admit, I was having “one of those days”. Faucets breaking, floods in kitchen, fridge acting up (more leaks in kitchen), 2 of the boys sick, … just one of those days, ya know. I decided to take a break & do a scrapbook digi page & this helped to lift me up a bit.
Thanks for the fun, Diana. I’m sure this will go to one of the children’s teachers before too long.
Be sure to try out the fun October 13-20 at Paper Craft Planet.
