Epic Movie, Goofie Crafter.

I saw the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge & thought, hey, I know that Friday Sneak Peek! Sorry, girls, it’s unmistakable. The Epic Movie of Gone With The Wind. Man, like hasn’t everybody (well except my DH) seen it like a dozen times?

So I got to work on a card for Gone with the Wind. As I was musing, I couldn’t get that goofy sketch from the Carol Burnett Show out of my head. Any 30-something’s remember it? Anyways, I was stuck on the Green Dress, either Vivian Leigh’s or Carol’s Curtain Rod. Oh man, that costume was too funny.

Here’s my Christmas Card:

Okay the bow: Easy Peasy, or as “it’s a Good Thing” or whatever, but I did NOT come up with it. I saw it here on Step By Step Crafting Lessons and here on Diana Gibbs site, just to name a few amazing crafter girls. This is my take on the “fork” bow.

Before you think we’re some kind of odd giants, I’m using a massive serving fork here for easy of photos. Weave the ribbon through:

and weave it back:

and through & back and if you have a medium size ribbon, it’ll only make 5 rows.

Take a separate piece of matching ribbon & poke through a the bottom, middle tine.

Bring that same ribbon up and through at the top middle tine.

Tie tightly.

Nice eh? Not quite done.

Pull off of the fork, TAH-DAH:

I used the same “fork” bow technique on this card. However, because it was a narrower ribbon, I wrapped it a bit more, so more loops to the bow. I’m not really happy with the card, well, because I can’t do sunset cards. I’ve looked at tutorials & well I am terrible at it. But I will keep trying. Any hints, please let me know. I think I just use to many inks & the clouds are too light & kids are “wanting to help” too. (can I blame them, any excuse will do LOL)

Haven’t put a card/scrappage/paper craft together for this challenge? You have until Thursday! Go for it, it’s just too much fun.

Be sure to check out SplitCoastStampers CSCC or of course, Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #6. Thanks Brooke & Sankari for putting this creative mind stretching challenge on each week.

  • I loved that Carol Burnett episode!
    Your card is stunning.
Thanks for that ribbon tutorial, I will give that a try to add a new little embellishment to my cards.

  • Hey ~ thank you for the kind words! You 1st card is COOL and it so funny that you put up the Carol B. image… I thought of her wearing that when they put up the sneak peek! I watched re-runs of her show for years when I was a teen… everyone thought I was a dork!

I like your 2nd card also, great idea to put those 2 stamps together as silhouettes! And I know what you mean about the brayer technique, ughhh! But I think your sunset is interesting… I mean not all sunsets are perfect, the ones I’ve been seeing lately looked more like yours!

  • Ann:

I thought of the Carol Burnett scene, too! Heehee!

LOVE what you did here! That bow is gorgeous! :D

  • Sam:

Fabulous card Amy! Your bow is absolutely perfect. Thanks so much for the giant fork tutorial ;-) .

  • Marie Donnelly:

As soon as I saw the GWTW challenge I thought of that insanely funny scene with Carol Burnett!! Thanks so much for posting the link to the video! I just sat her and LMAO! Then I clicked on the scene with Charo which was another funny one. Later when I have some time I’ll go thru a bunch.
You did a beautiful job on the card! Thanks for the nice tutorial on the bow, too!

  • Gulp, who hasn’t seen Gone with the Wind raise their hand…well that would be me.
I even ordered it and it came 3 weeks ago and I haven’t even taken the wrap off it.
    Is that bad?
Your cards are gorgeous and thanks for the fork bow mention.

    Big hugs,
