Coffee Filtered Rose

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge, #36!   Beauty & the Beast.  I had the privilege of finding out the movie ahead of time & guest for the super fun Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge!!! Can you tell I was excited to be asked?

Being 30-something, I didn’t see this movie as a child, but my oldest daughter went through the disney stage & yes we own the DVD.  I do love musicals and this movie came rushing back into my head with images of the enchanted rose.  That & humming “be our guest” each time I’ve set the table this week.

I’ve been wanting to try this Coffee Filter technique I saw over at Martha for over a year now & this was a great excuse to try it.  I used Copic Markers, instead of water colour paints.  I think I would use paint next time, because now I have to buy refills for my Copic Markers.  Not the end of the world, but it uses a lot of ink.  Here’s my go at making a “rose card”.

The Petals of the flower, after painted (or markered in this case) need to be curled into a point.  See Video instructions.

You wouldn’t be able to put this into a regular envelope.  Honestly, I can’t take a good picture of it, but the technique is just so cool, because it really does turn out like a real rose.

Used:  Always Artichoke DSP, Always Artichoke CS, Martha Stewart Satin Putty Ribbon, Eight #4 White Paper Coffee Filters, Copic Markers:  R59 Cardinal & E07 Light Mahogany, Bamboo Skewer (to curl edges of flowers into a point), Martha Stewart Doily Edge Punch, Flower Wire for Stem, Super Sticky Tape, Template from Cassie Chappell, mommymakesroses.com as seen on Martha Stewart.
