Traveler’s Inspiration: {three}

Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge: {three}, from Tina at Travelingmama and I am excited to say that Tina picked my picture of Liam getting ready to jump off the Cottage dock on Lac McGregor in Western Québec for this week’s Inspiration!

Lac McGregor, is one of the many lakes in Western Québec.  Québec is absolutely beautiful, IMO, especially in the autumn with the rolling hills & colourful trees.  For me to simplify:  La Belle Provence is skating/skiing in the Winter, it’s hiking/biking/driving in the Autumn, it’s maple syrup in the Spring, and it’s outdoor markets and cottages by the lake in the Summer.  Warning: the roads can be brutal (relatively) to get deep into cottage country, but that’s what makes it so beautiful–it’s so far from suburban life for us & only an hour away.
We are blessed to have friends who invite us up every year to this serene & friendly lake.  They have a floating dock with a canopy that we putter around the lake & when you feel like it, the kids just jump in the deep lake to cool off.  I think the water was low (really low) 70’s (F)/ low 20’s (C) temperature the last time we were there, but perfect for cooling off.  My kids love it there.  MalcolmLiam, and Emma-Sian all love it because it means times with family & friends, with food & laughter in a gorgeous setting.
Here’s my card, made with some left over wool, sewing maching & thread, toothpick, Kraft CS, Really Rust CS/marker, Sahara Sand Ink/CS, Martha Stewart Clear Stamps, & some dimensionals.

I made one more for the challenge, because I love that dock.  Here’s my Woody Card:

Okay, okay, maybe I used a few too many brad/nails, but honestly, such a cool technique, for cryin’ out loud, it makes WOOD PLANKS!  How neat & super easy.  The tutorial is from  Kim Teasdale at SplitCoastStampers.  I forgot to sponge the edges of the planks & I didn’t use nesties, just a paper trimmer & an exacto knife for 45 degree mitres.  :)

I must admit, I own a few CB EFolders, but I didn’t have this one, because I couldn’t see what on earth I would use it for.  Psych!  I ventured out when I saw the SCS tutorial.  Here’s the Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes close up:

Used:  More Mustard CS, Close To Cocoa Ink, Chocolate Chip Ink, & Creamy Caramel Ink, MM Antique Copper Brads, Distressed Stripes Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Chocolate Chip CS, Vanilla CS, Copics:  CO Cool Gray, N3 Neutral Gray, B06 Peacock Blue, B14 Light Blue, dimensionals, Clear EP, Versafine Black Onyx Ink.  One of a Kind SU Stamp Set, Pacific Point Ink.  I bought the little owl stamp & twig branch from Heather’s Stampin’ Haven, individually, but they’re from Hero Arts.

    Great card Amy, and I love the wood effect – especially the framing of that too cute little owl! Thanks for sharing the photo of your little boy about to jump into that big lake and the story of all your happy times there. Hope I’ve got something copper in my stash! Have a great weekend, Jo x
