Just a Basket Case

Paper Craft Planet’s 3D Challenge this week, 3D52, is basket weaving!   There are so many different weaves out there & I’m hoping you’ll like to try one of them or share & show us a different basket weave that you know about.  Be sure to upload your basket weaving to the Paper Craft Planet site {here’s a tutorial on how to do that} & check out the 3D 52 album.  Never tried uploading a photo to Paper Craft Planet?  Here’s a step-by-step tutorial for adding photos to the PCP Gallery.  Once their in the gallery & TAGGED with 3d52, I can find them & add them to the album!

Here’s my take on CraftyPod’s Diane Gilleland basket design is based on the traditional Danish Woven Heart. Check out her tutorial here!  In order to make her basket you’ll need to understand how to do the weave.  It’s not difficult, but unless you’ve done it once, it can be a bit funky.  So here is a great little tutorial from Gingerbread Snowflakes, on danish woven hearts–how this cute weave works.

It’s a little narrow basket, perfect for a few treats:

I just love the woven technique–looks cute & finished inside & out.

How about Laura Canale’s Basket Tutorial?  Here’s my take on her basket.  This one is a bit more complex & can be more time consuming if you sponge each little strip of paper, but look at the results … how cute!  I added one more half strip to the weave to make the over/under weaves even, but otherwise the same technique.  Here’s my take on it:

Inside.  I didn’t need to add a bottom to the basket, but I like the velour CS, so I did.

Trying to cut down on time, you don’t need to sponge the strips, but it is a cute effect.

Here’s the Irish Blessing.

Now when I first made Laura’s Basket, I wasn’t near my computer & I thought I can do it from memory.  lol, I know better than to trust my memory.  But although it wasn’t the same, it was a fun mistake, that ended up to be a Narrower version, that could probably hold a water bottle :D  What I did differently, is putting the narrower strips for the base, I think.  lol  I had a lot of strips left over anyhow.

How about Monica’s Super Easy & Cute Basket that was featured on Paper Craft Planet.  I think I’m going to the the kids to make one of these on the March Break … & me too :D .  She has a Video Tutorial to follow along with, easy peasy!  I used some Stampin’ Up! DSP to have a go with her technique.

Here’s the inside:
