Cute as a Button Ornament

This is for the Tuesday, Dec 14th 3D Challenge, 3d92, “Cute as a Button Ornament”.

When I first saw this, I had to give it a go. Pipecleaners, Buttons, Brad & mini-eyelet is what I used to make this little snowman ornament. This would be a good one to do with kids, but me being a big kid, I had a blast with it.

You can use buttons & pipecleaner/wire alone or add some eyelets & clip a brad for the nose, like I did …

Share your ideas & give it a go & we’ll put it in the 3D92 Album. We’d love to see your snowmen, Santa’s, Reindeer, Christmas tree!

For some more ideas, and directions, check out Martha Stewart “how to” on Button Ornaments!

Never tried uploading a photo to Paper Craft Planet? Here’s a step-by-step tutorial for adding photos to the PCP Gallery. Once your creations is in the gallery & TAGGED with 3d92, I can find them & add them to the Album! Don’t forget to link it back here to this discussion so we can all see it.

Trigger Tuesday Halter

Moxie Fab’s Trigger Tuesday Challenge has come up with this Halter Top from Anthropology for a fun challenge this week.

I had some paper from Cosmo Cricket (Hello Sunshine) that reminded me a bit of this fabric, so that’s where I started.

Here’s my go with this trigger challenge:

Groovy Vase

Just having some fun with a Kristina Werner (Reader’s Choice !) Colour Inspiration, #4.  I LOVED the photo that Laura had submitted, what a photographer.  Gorgeous picture of a jelly fish & a fantastic jumping off for a colour inspiration.

The ‘Vase’ is an idea that I first saw from Kim Burmeister that uses, of all things, a Stampin’ Up Christmas ornament punch–just with the bottom point trimmed off.  Clever!  Had to case.

That’s all, thanks for the fun!

The papers:  My Minds Eye:  Just Dreamy Cards, K & Company Berry Sweet, ColorBox:  Friendly Forest.

Punches:  Stampin’ Up!:  Ornament Punch & 3 flower punch

Lots of Colours

Time for a Kristina Werner Colour Inspiration, Reader’s Choice 2.  The photo was supplied from Kristie.

Here’s my go with these 6 colours …

8×8 Deisgner Paper Pad from Cosmo Cricket “Hello Sunshine” & “Get Happy”, DCWV Christmas Pack Paper.

Embellished Stitches

Time for a challenge from Embellish Magazine.  This weeks challenge is to use Stitching.

I attempted the poofy flowers from Tammy’s 3D challenge and Mercy Kerin’s tutorial but I switched it up a bit by having the fabric brad in the centre, but I still like the effect.  I used my Brother Sewing Machine that I have had for years, not fancy, but it’s a beast & I love it.  Kraft CS, K & Co PP, Nestability Scallops, SU Punches, Making Memories Magnetic Alpha Punches, dimensionals, Blue Bayou Ink, Fiskars Scalloped Edge Punch, Patterned Chipboard Letters, SU Pillow Box Die Cut.

Shannon’s Carton

This is a cute little Carton template “Easter Carton” from Shannon that was the challenge this past week in the 3D Tuesday Group as well as featured in Paper Craft Planet’s Community News.  I loved Shannon’s template & had to give it a go. You can find the instructions over at Paper Craft Planet’s 3D55 or at Shannon’s Website.

I liked sealing them with Brads so that I could fill them later.

I can’t really say truthfully how long it took to make this.  I’m going to say most of the afternoon, because in between strips of tape, I would read Clifford digs a dinosaur bone … again & again, & again … It was Liam’s library book this past week & I have read it umpteen times.  Like most multi-tasking-parents, I never really end up focusing on one project for too long.

Used:  Stampin’ Up DSP, Rhinestone Brads, Oval Punches, Martha Stewart Doily Punch, Lace Ribbon.

Meandering Julia

I had the honour of being the guest designer for Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge.  This week’s movie, #72, is “Julie and Julia”.  Sorry, I was a bit late posting, my oldest son is in the PLAYOFFS where he SCORED A GOAL & his team WON the game!!!!!   woo-hoo Malcolm!…. proud hockey, Mum moment.  Okay, onto the next challenge …

The movie ‘Julie and Julia’, which I saw on GNO–loved it!  The three of us came out of that movie wanting to make Duck, Beef Bourguignon, and generally, just lick a pound of butter.  For my creation this week, I made a Meander Recipe Book.  The Instructions for the Meander book can be found on You Tube here.  I thought that since my 10 year old daughter is finally asking about cooking (it wasn’t her thing before) that I would start an easy recipe book with some of her favourites.  We would make it, & add to the book each week.  We’ll see how that goes, I have a feeling, she might just say, “let me know when you’ve finished the cooking”. lol.

Here’s the inside with all the clever little note holders.

I only have 1 recipe to start, because I’m not sure which ones Emma-Sian will want to try.

It’s the worlds easiest & yummiest white country yeast bread.

Thanks for the fun inspiration this week!

Used:  Bind-it-all, Cardboard from cereal box, Paperbilities Scrap-n-treasures Papers, Oval Scallop & Oval Nestabilities, Yummy Stampin’ Up Stamp Set, white foam alpha stickers, white EP, clear EP, Tim Holtz Regal Flourish stamp, Versa mark Ink, Green Glossy CS from Heathersstampinghaven, circle punch.

Hiya!  So I’ve changed up my blog, just a bit.  I’ve had it for almost 2 years & baby toes-banner are not part of my everyday.   My beloved, patient DH, is back in town & I was bombarding him with questions about wordpress and blogging and what is CSS & why can’t the programmer just make is so that Chartreuse Green is called that, instead of “00ff00″.  My brain doesn’t work that way–I just don’t understand it at all.  So I gave up trying to figure out how to change the coding myself (much to hubbie’s relief) and found this program called Artisteer, which was a huge help for me trying to mess around with Wordpress.  Anyhoo, there’s my scoop on how I go about sprucing up my blog.  The digi frames I used are from Rhonna Farrer and Carina Gardner Otherwise, the rest was just playing around in illustrator & photoshop.  Still some funky stuff going on with links/lists, but I’ll work at that another weekend.

Onto more fun stuff!  The Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge this week, #71, 13 going on 30.  Fun & colourful!

I actually really loved the poster for the movie, so that’s where I started with an inspiration …

Here’s my card …

I used the button as a clasp, for something different.

and here’s the inside …

Used:  Stampin Up Circle Punches, So Saffron CS, Pumpkin Pie CS, Cameo Coral CS, White CS, Crop-a-dile for punching the holes, Clear EP, Wild Wassabi Ink, Versa Mark Ink, GStudio Series 3 Alpha bet Stamp Set, SU Stamps:  Simple Shapes, Pocket Fun, dimensionals.

Quick Beads

Check out the super fun project at this weeks Paper Craft Planet’s 3D project, 3D53, Making Paper Bead Bracelet,by Magdalena.  Here’s the album with some more beauty projects.

I gotta tell ya, I was totally surprised at how quick this project was for me.  I think I took about 10 minutes to cut little slender triangle pieces & Mod Podge them onto toothpicks to dry. I went skating with the kids, then came home & wiggled them loose (thankfully, they were still a bit wet). Another 3 minutes to put them on a stretchy string & tie. So fast!   I might try this one with my oldest DD, Thanks, Magdalena!

I didn’t have any styrofoam, so I used my paper piercer & popped some small holes into the top of my sizzix box, so that the tooth picks would stand upright while the paper beads dried.

I don’t have any fancy smancy jewelry tools, so I just slipped them onto a stretch cord & tied it.

Tah DAH!

Colourful Kindness

Isn’t that a fun inspiration from Moxie Fab World? This weeks Trigger Tuesday is from Kim Wilson.  She found this Inspiration Board by Kelly Oshiro via Santa Barbara Chic.  What happy Spring Colours, I loved it!

Here’s my go with those colours & themes.  The colours are off, because I forgot to WB & I am no good at correcting colour in PS.  I used Quick & Cute Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set, Pumpkin Pie Ink, Sandy Lion Bunnies PP, Martha Stewart Ribbon, Dimensionals, & White CS.
