Eggplant Issues

Kristina Werner had a Colour Inspiration this week, Reader’s Choice 3 CI.  I had a few minutes this morning so I put something together quickly & it was a challenge for me.  Eggplant & me don’t see eye to eye.  Anyways, be sure to try it out & give the challenge a go.

Lots of Colours

Time for a Kristina Werner Colour Inspiration, Reader’s Choice 2.  The photo was supplied from Kristie.

Here’s my go with these 6 colours …

8×8 Deisgner Paper Pad from Cosmo Cricket “Hello Sunshine” & “Get Happy”, DCWV Christmas Pack Paper.

Ooh La La!

There is my go at the Reader’s Choice Colour Inspiration Challenge!  Which one?  Well, Kristina Werner had a fun {2} part Colour Inspiration Challenge.  Part {1} was to submit your own photos & then the votes then led to part {2} of the challenge … the Colour Inspiration!

I’m hoping there’s enough light gray in the mirror copic colouring.

Here was the inspiration photo, taken by Be Creative with Amy.  Good name for a blog :D , btw

Colourful Sewing

Is that inspiring for a Kristina Werner Colour Inspiration?  Dunno, but I like it.  I popped over to Fabricland today (big sale on Fabric until Saturday, btw).  I brought my camera into the florescent, no windowed fabric wonderland & took a few pics before perusing the material.  I call this photo “Gütermann”.  lol

Anyways, that’s my go at a Colour Inspiration.  Kristina’s  “part 1″ photo submission goes until Tuesday, May 11 at 7:00 pm MDT. Give it a go or look through some of your old photos.  Always fun revisiting.

{edited May 8, … trying to reload, Linky didn’t put my big photo into the quilt … for all you out there … apparently, Linky doesn’t like “umlaut” as in the ‘u’ in ‘Gütermann’ or accents, just fyi}

Tough Colours

This is for PaperCraftPlanet’s Colour Challenge #50.  For me those are tough colours.  It’s the bold burgundy & Turquoise that I have such a hard time with, but that’s the point of the challenge, right?  To be challenged.

It’s one of those Free Standing Pop Up Card, that are kinda’ cool, ’cause they fold flat for mailing/envelope.

I’m not sure how I feel about how the card turned out, as the colours looked better in the inspiration than on my card.  LOL   Speaking of Challenging … try creating while hearing the floor shake above you with new tap moves that your DD is trying out.  Honestly, it’s right above my head.  It makes me happy that she loves to dance so much, perhaps we can look at some sort of insulation for the ceiling in the basement.

Stampin Up! Circle of Friendship stamp set, Burlap Stamp Set,  Inkadinkado Flourishes Stamp Set, Vanilla CS, Burgundy CS, Turquoise CS, Tempting Turquoise Marker, Bashful Blue Marker, Air Brush (Stampin Up), Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilties, Circle Punch, Flower & Embroidery Floss from my stash, Pumpkin Pie Ink, Scallop Punch.

5+1 Colours

Kristina Werner had a Colour Inspiration Challenge this week, #57, and it was a big challenge for me.  Lots & lots of colours from her fabric choices.  My Nan (would have been her 93rd birthday today) used to make me quilts.  I love quilts, heavier that blankets & made with love.  Here are the colours from Kristina’s soon-to-be-quilt:

Here’s my go with all of the colours.  Thanks for all the fun & memories in the craft room!

Good to Sea You.

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #54 this week was Finding Nemo!  Be sure to play along this week (you have until Thursday, October 22nd get your creation linked).  Taylor is giving away YOUR choice of the newest holiday stamp sets that have just been released fromTaylored Expressions as blog candy!

This was the first movie I ever took my oldest to in the theatres.  Emma was 4 at the time & I watched kids leave the theatre in tears because of the first 10 minutes of tragic loss.  Isn’t that always the way?  My Emma-Sian simply leaned over & paused eating her popcorn, “what happend to the mum, she dead?”  ”yes, she was eaten”, “okay” and then she continued watching.  I asked her when she got home if that movie bothered her & she simply said, “Mum, it’s just a movie!!”  Right.

I don’t know why I found this part of the movie so entertaining, but I did:

Here’s my card:

Yes, I did have these Sizzix-Sizzlit Fish Die Cuts, probably, because it was on sale & probably for a kids project at one point or another.  Honestly never thought I’d use them on a card.  LOL.  Never say never.

Used:  Brilliant Blue Textured CS, Only Orange Textured CS, White CS, Going Grey CS, Tsukneko Brilliance Platinum Planet Dew Drop Pigment Ink, Sizzlit Fish Dies (tropical fish set), Unibal Signo white gel pen, Seeing Spots Stamp Set, Brilliant Blue Marker, Scallop Edge Punch.

Time for Kristina Werner’s 56th Colour Inspiration!  This challenge had a lot of colours, so I had a few false starts to the card, before trying to figure out what I was going for.

Here is Kristina’s fun inspiration photo:

Here’s my card.  For each “flower” I poked two holes, for each of the thread to be tucked in, in the centre & at the end of the spiral wrap.  To make the spiral, I just used some tombo glue to hold down the embossing floss/thread.  It dries very quickly.

Used:  So Saffron CS, Apple Cider (I believe) SU DSP, metal ringed tag from Staples, dimensionals, So Saffron Gross Grain 1/2″ ribbon, SU Cute & Curly Stamp Set, Ballet Blue Marker, White CS, Stapler, Embossing (Embroidery Floss) Thread.

Time for Kristina Wern’ers Colour Inspiration #55!  This week’s photo comes from this fabulous skirt & shoes:

No stamping, just some left over material cut in a circle, with a running stitch around the outside & then gathered in to make a fabric yoyo.  Apparently they sell templates to make yoyo’s, but I’ve never understood why.  Maybe it’s faster.  Anyhoo, here’s my card:

Used:  Vanilla CS, Really Rust CS, Grey CS, Buttons from my stash, EKSuccess Edge Punch, Unknown PP, Grey & Rust Cross Stitch Embroidery Floss, Fabric left over from an autumn table runner I made a couple of years ago.

Quilted Inspiration

Paper Craft Planet’s Colour Inspiration, #23, (tag: pcpcolor23) comes from Pine Is Here, who found this fun clip from a Japanese Sewing Magazine.

For the challenge, I had a tough time putting that many colours together:

kraft, ( the color of cardboard)
vanilla ( the color of French vanilla ice cream)
mellow moss ( a bluish green but not a teal or turquoise)
Celery (a light olive green)
Saffron (a light yellow)
mustard (an earthy yellow)
cocoa (a medium brown)

I’m not that fond of the card, probably the mustard on the wings, but I got the challenge completed.  This is my go:

Used:  Martha Stewart PP, Mellow Moss CS, Certainly Celery textured CS, More Mustard CS, Kraft CS, Close to Cocoa DSP, Tim Holtz Grunge Board, Scallop Punch, word window Punch, Close to Cocoa Marker, More Mustard EP, Versamark Ink, Copic CO Cool Grey Marker, Lots of Thoughts Stamp Set, Sewing Machine, Flower Mandala 1 Stamp from OutlinesRubberStampCo, Michaels PP (Paperbilities Autumn Leaves Kaleidoscope Printed Paper), Mellow Moss Ink, Certainly Celery Ink.
