Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge, #74, this week is UP! I believe this was the first 3D movie we took all 3 of the kids. Liam is pretty young, so I wasn’t sure how he was going to react with the bad glasses & things coming at ya, but he did well & loved “Doug” & the idea that you could get a house to fly if you attached enough Helium balloons.
We have some boy birthday parties coming up so I think this will go to Edward or Nathan probably. Fairly plain on the outside:
I haven’t messed around with Pop Up cards in years, but thought this would be a good excuse to go at them again, since it reminded me of Liam’s first experience with 3D.
It’s a pretty simple Pop Up. If you goole Pop Up you’ll find amazing and intricate examples from people like Robert Sabuda, PubliQue Living and Kirigami … love that stuff. I think I want to try Robert’s Birthday Cake Pop Up next. Here’s my simple Pop Up:
This little Stampin Up Stamp Set, All God’s Children, reminded me of Russell & Doug.
The b/ground sky blue is a felt/velour paper that I bought at Heathers Stamping Haven. The little balloons is from a Small Marvy Uchida Punch I’ve had for years. I have a thing for punches, since I am challenged with scissors. A little white gel pen & upholstery thread for depth & bob’s yur uncle:
Pop Up cards can be very simple to make, just cutting straight lines, fun fractal example here, & scoring so that the folds are straight. Then just stick on some details.
Of course, if you get side tracked by some incredible origami folks & their work like this dinosaur Pterodactyl. (Pattern) You might, like me try to make Kevin & then realize that it’s not working & abandon it, but if anyone wants to give it a go, I’d love to see it. Here was my abandoned attempt. I couldn’t get him to fold down, without a hugely bulky card. I think it was Kevin’s googley eyes.
Paper Craft Planet’s 12 Days Contest is on & today is Day 5, where Kim Burmeister has an awesome tutorial for these cute little bows. I’ve wanted to make these paper bows before, but when I saw how quick & easy it was I thought let’s give it a go. Tomorrow we’re celebrating Liam’s 4th Birthday with family & although we haven’t wrapped his pressie yet, this cute little bow will adorn the top.
Be sure to check out Kim’s Video:
Be sure to play for your chance to win at Paper Craft Planet!
Oh yes, Liam’s pressie may not be wrapped, but Dinosaur Hill is ready. Cookies: Sugar. Cake: Mum’s Light & Fluffy Chocolate, with her Fudge Icing recipe. Diabetics beware, even standing close to the cake is dangerous.
