SCAL-Holly

tethered_HollyJar_BAR

So did I mention, I’m lovin’ this Sure Cuts A Lot Software?  SCAL is a program that let’s your computer talk to your cricut machine.  I draw something up in Illustrator, save it as a svg file & then voilà-in a few minutes it’s cut some of my patterned paper out.  ahhhhh <insert light beam here>.  Beautiful.

I’m not much of a drawer, but apparently with a pen tool I can draw Holly.  :)  Tah DAH!

Paper Craft Planet’s 3D challenge, 3d39, this week is from Lyn Bernatovich, with this really cute “Soup in a Jar”–Friendship Soup.  Cute Gift!

Here’s Lyn’s Friendship Soup Recipe:

Friendship Soup

½ c. dried split green peas
1/3 c. beef bouillon granules
¼ c. medium pearl barley
½ c. dried lentils
¼ c. minced dried onion
2 tsp. Italian seasoning
½ c. uncooked long grain rice
½ c. uncooked small pasta
____________________________________
1 lb. ground beef
3 qts. water
1 can (28oz) diced tomatoes undrained
1 sm. onion, chopped

In a 1 qt. jar, layer first 7 ingredients in the order listed. Wrap pasta in plastic and add to jar. Seal tightly. Store up to 3 months in a cool, dry place.

To Prepare Soup:
Remove pasta from jar and set aside. In a dutch oven over medium heat, cook beef until no longer pink, drain. Add water, tomatoes and soup mix; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 45 minutes.

Stir in pasta, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until pasta, peas, barley and lentils are tender. Makes 4 quarts/16 servings.

Here’s my decorated Jar for the soup.  Yes, I know where’s the ingredients?  I just see rice.  Uh, yes.  Liam & I are on Puppy Watch, as Sparkle had surgery & the poor Pup is recovering.  So just back & forth to get the kids to & from school.  No time for shopping.  But it’ll be ready for when I get the dry ingredients.

Oh yes, do you like the “Jolly” stickers?  Liam was my helper boy (slightly adjusted by Mum), with “USE theeese”.  Ah the embellishment drawer proved very exciting to a 3 year old today.
