Altered File Folder

This week’s PaperCraftPlanet’s 3D challenge, 3d44, is from Tammy Hershberger, for a fun alteration of a file folder.

The only file folders we had in the house are this blue colour.  I’m not sure if it goes, but it’s what I had.

I tucked the ribbon into the back with a slot.  I think I actually made it backwards, as the flap is suppose to go to the front.  What can I say, I have difficulties follow directions, ask my parents, it’s always been the way.

The inside was folded up, to make a pocket.  Check out directions here from Patty Bennett.

The inside, since it’s protected by a cover, I used felt embellishment trim.

Used:  Stampin’ Up! DSP (Windsor Knot), A long Blue File Folder, A note Book, Felt Embellishment (Crafts), Oval Nestabilities, Olive Satin Ribbon, buttons (from my stash), White Thread (from my stash).

Filling the World with Light.

Time for another Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge, #23.  This week was the wonderful & hilarious movie “Waking Ned Devine“.  DH & I saw it over 10 years ago in the theatres & just loved it.  Quirky humour, just the way we like it.

Sometimes when you really love a movie, I find these challenges even more difficult.  I decided to make a note book for one of the women in my Bible Study, because the movie seemed to rely on the “friends” factor quite a bit.  No, my friend in the study doesn’t buy lotto ticket, lie to the authorities, nor does she pretend to take on the identity of a dead person for personal gain.   Oh my the more I think of it, maybe I should give it to somebody else … LOL.  Anyways, my ‘Green Element’ for the challenge was in the Rhonna Farrer Le Fleur Autumn Leaves PP.

I used some Tim Holtz Crackle Paint …. oooo is that stuff cool.  You just paint it on, kinda’ thick, & then just wait about an hour for it to dry.  It almost looks like leather when it’s dried.  I also used some Grunge Board from Tim Holtz.  Also, very cool.  It’s very strong & maliable, so I used it for the hinge (attached by a velcro sticker at the front).

At the back, it’s attached by Antique copper Brads.  I wish I had had different bind-it-all rings, cause it would have looked better in a different colour, but silver is all I had.

Used:  Celtic Knots SU Retired Set, ‘Friends’ stamp set from Remarkable, I believe?, Tim Holtz Grunge Board Plain, Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Crackle Distressing Paint, Bind-It-All Zutter 6×6″ Chipboard Covers, Bind-It-All Machine & Rings, Antique Copper Brads, Velcro Dots, Tombo Glue, Blue Awning Adhesive Chipboard from K & Company,  Rhonna Farrer Le Fleur Autumn Leaves PP, Distressing/cutting Tool (SU), Tim Holtz Weathered Wood Distressing Ink, Distressing Applicator Tool, Stazon Timber Brown Ink, Printer Paper cut to 5 1/4″ square, & Dimensionals.

If you Knew my Emma …

Had a crazy couple of days here in Ottawa.  Malcolm (7) had an all day tournament about an hour away from here & DH, his coach, lost his voice, cheering our team on to the rank of Champions!  Lots of fun, long day.  That same night, last night, my youngest (3) woke up sick & had a really rough night.  I am working on about 2-4 hours sleep, hard to tell when you’re woken up every 15.  I am so past that stage & I’m feeling the effects today + that darn sore throat, yuck.

I did see this week’s Cinema Saturday Creative #13, ‘Mama Mia’ and had to give it a go.  Crafting always makes me feel better!  The Sneak Peek from yesterday, wow, tough, even with the hints, way to go Carol for guessing it!  So it’s Mama Mia!  After humming ABBA songs through out the day, I thought I’d go with this image for a creation.  The Notebook/Diary is for my DD (9) & yes it has a lot of “bling & sparkle” but if you knew my Emma you’d know she’d love it.

I went with this image of Sophie, with her Mum’s Diary.  Beautiful scenes of Greece too, wow.

I used my ’Zutter Bind it All‘ again & maxed out my Sizzix Big Shot Top Notes Die Cut.  The Top Notes cuts a lot but WARNING it’s not quite strong enough for the ‘Zutter’ Chipboard, that stuff is REALLY Thick, especially when you also line it with a heavy sandpaper like glitter CS.  Wow.  I hope I haven’t squished the foam too badly.

Here’s what I made for my Emma-Sian:

And here’s the inside, just printer paper, cut down.

Thanks for the fun, ladies at CSCC!  It was a nice reprieve today.

Used:  Top Notes Die Cut, Big Shot, Zutter Bind It All, S.U. Flower Punches, Bling Bling Shimmer Cardstock 6″x6″ (Forever In Time), Gemstone Stickers (Forever In Time), Pixie Pink CS, Tempting Turquoise CS, Silver Rick Rack, Sizzix Sizzlits Script Alphabet, Sizzix Machine.

Personal Note:

My Hockey Champion, at the end of the day:

His Trophy for being Champion Team, did I mention he got a goal!

My little Liam & uber hockey coach, the day before the little guy got sick:

Right, I’m off to get kids ready for bed.  Early morning, (3rd day of) hockey tomorrow for voiceless coach & tired 7 year old champion and hopefully blessed night for everyone.  Night all!

Birthday Reminder Note Book

Paper Craft Planet’s Colour Inspiration #7 inspired me to use my “Zutter Bind it Allthat I’ve had for over a month & haven’t tried yet.  I’ve been meaning to try the ‘bind it all’ for a while, but I guess it intimidated me a bit.  Honestly though, it’s so simple! I got the idea for a Birthday Journal from June over at You Tube.   Maybe I’ll remember to mail the cards in time for peoples birthdays now.  LOL

Here’s the inspiration Katherine gave us from the latest Pottery Barn Catalogue:

Like I mentioned this was my first go at the ‘bind it all’, but there are so many helpful tutorials on youtube with tips like ‘how to hide the wire in the inside’ and such that it was easy peasy.

The Stamp set is from SU’s ’so many scallops’ and I used a few SU circle punches & even a metal rimmed label from Staples to decorate.  Nothing fancy, actually quite quick.

I just covered some Cereal Box Card Board with Ivory CS (don’t for get to mitre the edges, for a clean finish) and then cover the inside with another rectangle of CS.  Voilà!  The Front Cover & Back Cover are the same one the inside.

Thanks, Katherine, for the fun inspiration this week.  I’m looking forward to seeing other interpretations over at Paper Craft Planet’s Colour Inspiration pcpcolor7.

Used:  Ivory CS, Kiwi Kiss CS, Pumpkin Pie Textured CS, Buttons, Photo Frame Punch, Circle Punches, Metal Rimmed Labels from Staples, So Many Scallops Punches, Chocolate Chip Ink, Kiwi Kiss Ribbon, Bind It All, Wire Trimmers, Cereal Box Card Board, Super Sticky Tape.
