Happy Birthday, Susanna!

Today, October 22nd, we are celebrating our Paper Craft Planet leader, Susanna Boyd’s, birthday with a week-long Blog Hop celebration that every member on the Paper Craft Planet can participate in!
Just like last year, the Super Novas got together and each made a special birthday gift for Susanna’s birthday.  In honor of this momentous occasion, we invite everyone to join in the hop and post a birthday greeting!
For Susanna, I made a Finnish Star.  There are some video instructions that I followed here.  It would be fun as a Christmas Tree Ornaments too … Give it a go!
So, join us for Susanna’s birthday party celebration from October 22nd that ends on October 28th.
Hey, if you’d like to play along and give Susanna some birthday wishes, just create a card or a little giftie, post it to your photo gallery with the tag SBOCT22 (exactly as typed).  We’ll create a slideshow on the Planet Blog post that you can refer back to.
Okay for those of you who want the abridged version of the You Tube Tutorial of the Finnish Star, here’s what I did:
6 strips (well actually 12 strips, you need two stars):
Twist, Twist, Twist:
Do it Again …
Place them facing each other:
Trim the edges:
It looks nice either way … Fun.  It reminds me a bit of those s.
Alright … go have some fun & be sure to wish Susanna a Happy Birthday!

Fran•táge: Enamel Accents on Christmas!

It’s another Fran•táge Friday at Paper Craft Planet, brought to you by Stampendous.  Learn something new & win some stamps … woo-hoo!

This week we’re playing around with embossing enamel.  The  Stampendous Shabby White Embossing Enamel adds a great effect especially for Christmas Crafting.

Here’s the layered Christmas ornament we’ll be making:

The supplies you’ll need include embossing enamel, Cling Jumbo Pine Drift stamp, clear Christmas Ball ornaments, oh yes & have a stash of buttons.

The embossing enamel looks great when you add small amounts on the branches of the tree.  I just painted a bit of glue where I wanted the enamel to high-light.  I also used some more buttons for ornaments on the tree.

In order to get the layered look, just stamp a few times & cut out what you want to use.  Use textured paper for a tree-like look.  I also only used part of the stamp on this project, it’s a very versatile stamp set that way.

Now take a mason jar of buttons, some super sticky tape & sit down in front of the tele for a show or two & cover the ornament with buttons:

Add your focal point and a ribbon and there you have it!

Thanks so much to the folks at Stampendous for these fabulous products and the giveaway!

Want to win some free stamps? Leave a comment AT PAPER CRAFT PLANET before December 2nd. After that, we’ll pick a winner through and announce that lucky duck on the next Fran•táge Friday.

Cute as a Button Ornament

This is for the Tuesday, Dec 14th 3D Challenge, 3d92, “Cute as a Button Ornament”.

When I first saw this, I had to give it a go. Pipecleaners, Buttons, Brad & mini-eyelet is what I used to make this little snowman ornament. This would be a good one to do with kids, but me being a big kid, I had a blast with it.

You can use buttons & pipecleaner/wire alone or add some eyelets & clip a brad for the nose, like I did …

Share your ideas & give it a go & we’ll put it in the 3D92 Album. We’d love to see your snowmen, Santa’s, Reindeer, Christmas tree!

For some more ideas, and directions, check out Martha Stewart “how to” on Button Ornaments!

Never tried uploading a photo to Paper Craft Planet? Here’s a step-by-step tutorial for adding photos to the PCP Gallery. Once your creations is in the gallery & TAGGED with 3d92, I can find them & add them to the Album! Don’t forget to link it back here to this discussion so we can all see it.

Stampendous Wishes

Stampendous will be sponsoring Paper Craft Planet for the entire month of November with a series of fun stamping ideas! Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the entire month, stay tuned for tips and tricks that will help you get a handle on the holidays!

Using this super cute Cling Polar Christmas Stamp, from Stampendous, I had some fun making Paper Christmas Ornament bulbs.  Honestly, this was easy, I think I’ll have the kids do one  each for the tree this year.  I just have to hide the glitter, they tend to go over board.

I followed a very simple tutorial from Homemade Gifts Made Easy, paper from Déjà Views (Global Views), and Cling Polar Christmas Stamp from Stampendous.

So many possibilities with this one!

We will be bringing you these awesome holiday ideas all month long to help you get ready for the holidays. You can access all this inspiration in our Back to Basics Stampendous Groupforever.

Flower Soft Contest!

Today Paper Craft Planet has a really fun game to play. The Super Novas all got together and played with the new Flower Soft Snow Globe CD. I’m so excited to share this project with you…. and you can play along and win a prize by participating in a scavenger hunt! Keep reading for instructions on how you can win!

Here’s a little ornament I made using the Snow Globe CD,  display globes & Polar White Flower Soft.

I used two of the globes, & adhered the snowman images onto either side of acetate.  I did reverse the image of the snowman, so it matched up, when they are back to back.  Add a few dimensionals & layer.  Very quick scissor time & such a fun result.

Add some flower soft glue to the hat trim & snow tops, with some Polar White Flower Soft and also shake some extra Flower Soft in the bottom of each side for loose snowglobe snow!

Today’s scavenger hunt is sponsored by Flower Soft! You could win a GENEROUS prize if you play our game…

“Flower Soft makes your stamps look real,
that’s why it has such a huge appeal.
You can use it on flowers or snow,
it’s great for trees and plants, you know.
You can win some if you can link
the Snow Globe CD – you can do it, I think!”

Want to know what you’re playing for? Comment below and link the correct product and you could win the same prize pack the Super Novas used to create all these beautiful projects! Package includes the Snow Globe CD, oval aperture cards and envelopes and display globes!

Check out what the Super Novas made!

Find the product on the Flower Soft website that fits the clue and you could be our winner! TO ENTER:  Leave a comment on Paper Craft Planet with your answer. We will pick a random winner for all the CORRECT entries on December 14th.

Tag, You’re IT!

Paper Craft Planet’s 3D Tuesday Challenge,  3D38 challenge, “Tag You’re It” is from Susanna Boyd.  The VIDEO tutorial Susanna did is AWESOME (with a new fold for a tag holder!) & she’s right it takes no time what so ever. I did spend a bit more time on the tags themselves with the nestabilities {flourish thing} & cuttlebug ornament die cuts, & some copper embossing, but the tag holder itself … MINUTES. LOVE IT.

The book holds 8 ornament tags.

Here they are:

Give this challenge a go (on from Tuesday to Monday 23rd November), you’ll be surprised how quick it is to make.

Used:  Merry Moments DSP (Stampin’ Up), Spellbinders Bordabilities 12″ Illumination Border, Inkadinkado Christmas Season Clear Stamps, Copper EP, Versamark Ink, Recollections Rhinestone Pearl Stickers, Martha Stewart  Ribbon, white string, Provocraft Ornament Die Cut, Chocolate Chip CS, Nestabilities Scalloped Rectangle, Grid PP (unknown scraps).

Super Glitta’

This week’s Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge is one of my favourite movies, really, it is so funny.  CSCC57 is My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

I had gone out to pick up some super ‘over the top’ Blue Paper for the outrageously ‘over the top’ wedding party from the movie.  I’m not really sure if I’d give this Congrats card out at a wedding, depends on the people getting married, I suppose.  It was much fun to make though!  The Black on Acetate trim is from Best Creation Inc.  The frame was cut out using Spellbinders Nestabilties, Labels Four.

Here’s a bit more fun with that same super thick Glitter Paper (picked up at Heather’s Stamping Haven here in Ottawa).  I used it with the Spellbinders Nestabilities (Create A Flake) Snow flake Die Cut (FUN!).  Cut 4 of them out (2 dark blue & 2 light blue) & glued it together, to make this ornament.  Much less messy that shakin’ the glitter on myself.

Ribbon Spool Frame

Okay the 3-D Challenge this week, (3d3), from Paper Craft Planet, was to make an altered item out of a Ribbon Spool.  I really wanted to make a pin cushion, but I tried for about an hour & gave up, because it look like a dogs breakfast & went surfing to see if anybody had any ideas … I love the internet.  I found this person, KMThornton, who made an altered Picture Frame Ornament with a Ribbon Spool.  Then I made my version inside of like 10 minutes.  Still have to put a picture in, but later …

I just poked a whole with a paper piercer & pushed the ribbon through, tying it with a Rhinestone Brad:

Glossy Glued the Rhinestones & Coloured the Edging with Ruby Red Marker.  Threw on some Nestabilties:

Here’s the second scalloped Nestie I used for the back.

That’s all.  Faster to do than to take pics of.  LOL

Used:  Close To Cocoa CS, Ruby Red CS, Holiday Treasure DSP, American Crafts Premium Ribbon Shimmery XMAS Red 5/8″, Ruby Red Marker, Rhinestone Brad, Rhinestones, Glossy Glue, Scalloped & Regular Circle Nesties, oh yes & a ribbon spool.

Silver for you.

Tuesday, time for Kristina Werner Colour Inspiration #32. This weeks CI comes from Crate and Barrel. Such Silvery sparkle, love it:

The colours we could use are:

and either Sahara or a metallic.  I went with Silver.

Provocraft has this Cuttlebug Combo embossing die thing called  “For You”.  It’s a little ornament.  I used part of that & part of a circle nestability (trimmed at top & bottom) and a flourish bordabilty called Illumination to make my own ornament.  Not sure how well you can see the items, but here’s the ’shopping list’.  (My camera, is still in the hospital & this was taken with my point & shoot cool pix Nikon).

Here’s my card:

Be sure to check out the other fun interpretations on Kristina’s Blog!
