Ahoy, Treasure

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge, #43 is Pirates of the Caribbean:  The Curse of the Black Pearl.  I wasn’t sure if I’d have time to get to this super fun challenge this week, as I am babysitting 8 puppies & a mum Dog this week.  I thought I’d get this in before I got too tired.  :)

A few years ago Malcolm wanted a “Pirates Party”.  This would have been great for invites, although thinking back, I believe I made some kind of treasure-map invite.  Any hoo, it was quick to put together.

Okay, sorry, self indulgence here.  This is was my baby … Malcolm, my middle son, had just turned 6 in that picture & we had a “pirate Party”.  He’s only two years older now, but he seems like such a baby in that picture.  Man, am I far behind on my scrapbooking.  I should at least cover birthdays & holidays.  sheesh.

The kids made pirate hats, we had loot bags for the treasure.  We played pass the treasure box (musical chairs), & pin the x on the map, oh what else, can’t remember.  Fun.

I painted the back of a chalk board to look like the side of a boat, made an anchor & had a fishing game.

The cake was made in a bread pan & then I sliced off the puffy top to make a treasure chest & filled with Gold Chocolate coins, & green & brown sugar for the dirt & grass it was dug out of.  The silver & gold pearls are candies too.  Man, was that sweet.

Used:  Creative Memories Circle Cutters, CuttleBug Embossing Folder, Tim Holtz Grunge Board, Dew Drop Tsukineko Galaxy Gold Pigment Ink, Pearl Stickers, 1 1/4″ GrossGrain Red Stripped SU Ribbon, Super Sticky Tape, Gold Grafix Foil Paper.
