Easter Egg Garland
Here’s a cute idea, I originally saw in a Valentines version from the awesome talented & inspiring, Elizabeth Kartchner. I changed it up a bit for Easter & used some ric rac, to add stability while sewing the garland. Over, under, Over, Under, eggs, facing same direction … it was rather meditative actually. Took me about 15-20 minutes to SEW together, but that is with distractions, like forgetting to have a full bobbin spool.
The Wild Raspberry Papers from K & Company, I LOVE! So after drawing up an Egg shape in Illustrator, & then saving it as a SVG file, I cut it out using SCAL software to talk to my Cricut Machine. It can be done by hand, but I had these identical Nine 8″x6″ papers cut in minutes.
How long is it? dunno, but just over two {2} piano lengths.
So I could string them across the piano … which is a bit dusty, which makes me wonder just how much practicing the kids have done this week. hmmm.
Here’s my little egg shape …
Stitched Up
So this month’s theme at Paper Craft Planet is Keeping You in Stitches, pcpdt0210, Add sewing to your creation. I keep a special needle aside, so the next time I go to mend the boys’ clothes or Emma’s latest scrunchie, I can actually sew with it. Paper dulls the needle just a bit.
I did have some fun with this idea with two projects. First is this little paper bird:
I thought he was cute. The CS is a Designer Mat Pad from K & Co called Ancestry. The pattern … Martha. And such a Martha thing, it is. ”What do you do with a paper bird?” I don’t know, but I like the idea.
The second stitching bit I’ve done was on a card …
The stamp set is from Stampin’ Up! called Paint Prints, stamped in Sahara Sand Ink on Kraft CS, with some old olive CS. The felt vine is from Forever in Time Floral Embellishments Thick Vine.
The green boarder at the side was left over from another project’s unused Scallop Trim. Always keep your scraps, ya never know.
The Tooth Fairy.
I made this little ‘Tooth Fairy’ pillow years ago for Emma. It was in demand last night when Malcolm lost his 7th baby tooth.
It was easy enough to make out of Polar fleece material. Just a little “tooth shaped pillow” sewn onto a square pillow. (Open at top) Because of the super puffiness, the tooth stays in for the fairy to exchange for a toonie.
Here’s Malcolm, my little green eyed monster, the morning after he lost his tooth & was compensated … oh the incisor was so tiny. Their adult teeth look so big when they come in. It really changes the look of the child, I find.
