Super Glitta’

This week’s Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge is one of my favourite movies, really, it is so funny.  CSCC57 is My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

I had gone out to pick up some super ‘over the top’ Blue Paper for the outrageously ‘over the top’ wedding party from the movie.  I’m not really sure if I’d give this Congrats card out at a wedding, depends on the people getting married, I suppose.  It was much fun to make though!  The Black on Acetate trim is from Best Creation Inc.  The frame was cut out using Spellbinders Nestabilties, Labels Four.

Here’s a bit more fun with that same super thick Glitter Paper (picked up at Heather’s Stamping Haven here in Ottawa).  I used it with the Spellbinders Nestabilities (Create A Flake) Snow flake Die Cut (FUN!).  Cut 4 of them out (2 dark blue & 2 light blue) & glued it together, to make this ornament.  Much less messy that shakin’ the glitter on myself.

Fun with Borderabilities.

SplitCoastStampers has a contest on right now in conjunction with Spellbinders.  I don’t need any excuse to make something with my nesties, but this is a good reason for you if you haven’t tried ‘em.  You can create a card, layout, or altered item (tags in SCS upload Gallery as: Spellbinders_cardSpellbinders_layoutSpellbinders_altered) with any Spellbinders products, so I thought I’d use my Nestabilties (Ovals) & Borderabilities (12″ Grand Illumination Border):

I used some Groovy Guava CS (SU retired) that I found in my stash.   I cut out the Illumination Border twice (once for the front, embossed & once for the inside, not embossed).  I then just cut around with scissor on the Card to allow for the border to show through, like a lace & to hid the ugly bits, I just glued the two pieces together.  Easy peasy … here’s the inside.

Used:  Groovy Guava CS, White CS, Ribbon Bundle (SU Sale-a-bration ‘09), Nestabilities Ovals, Borderabilities (12″ Illumination Border), Sweet Little Sentiments Stamp Set, Certainly Celery Ink, Ranger Ink Applicator, Dimensionals, Super Sticky Tape.

Silver for you.

Tuesday, time for Kristina Werner Colour Inspiration #32. This weeks CI comes from Crate and Barrel. Such Silvery sparkle, love it:

The colours we could use are:

and either Sahara or a metallic.  I went with Silver.

Provocraft has this Cuttlebug Combo embossing die thing called  “For You”.  It’s a little ornament.  I used part of that & part of a circle nestability (trimmed at top & bottom) and a flourish bordabilty called Illumination to make my own ornament.  Not sure how well you can see the items, but here’s the ’shopping list’.  (My camera, is still in the hospital & this was taken with my point & shoot cool pix Nikon).

Here’s my card:

Be sure to check out the other fun interpretations on Kristina’s Blog!

Used: Riding Hood Red CS, Sparkly Red Paper (from Heathers Stamping Haven), Silver Paper from Heather’s, Cuttlebug Combo Embossing “For You” Die, Spellbinders Illumination Borderabilities, Spellbinders Large Circle Nestabilities, Kite string like string (from tags), Cuttlebug.

Trying out Spellbinders Nestabilities.

First off, I wanted to say, I am not good with them, but it was (DISCLAIMER LOL) my first attempt. I guess I should sit down & go through the instruction book first … now where did I put that thing?

I’m sure I got the inspiration for this card from Kel, but I can’t seem to find it on her Blog. Maybe I book marked the wrong thing. Anyways, when I saw the Wainscoting on the walls & diamond patterns it reminded me of some unloved tools in my arsenal. Namely the Nestabilities by Spellbinders and the Lil’ Boss Diamond Embosser (kinda like a crimper).

Here’s a closer up of the embossing that the nestabilites do … it’s the square around the outside. Man, I need to change the blade on my cutter .. those edges are ROUGH.

I also used S.U. Rub Ons, Corner Rounder, & a few dimensionals.

I’ll work on using them a little bit more & try to figure out how to cut & emboss. Another day, it’s sunny & the kids want OUT.
