Tough Colours

This is for PaperCraftPlanet’s Colour Challenge #50.  For me those are tough colours.  It’s the bold burgundy & Turquoise that I have such a hard time with, but that’s the point of the challenge, right?  To be challenged.

It’s one of those Free Standing Pop Up Card, that are kinda’ cool, ’cause they fold flat for mailing/envelope.

I’m not sure how I feel about how the card turned out, as the colours looked better in the inspiration than on my card.  LOL   Speaking of Challenging … try creating while hearing the floor shake above you with new tap moves that your DD is trying out.  Honestly, it’s right above my head.  It makes me happy that she loves to dance so much, perhaps we can look at some sort of insulation for the ceiling in the basement.

Stampin Up! Circle of Friendship stamp set, Burlap Stamp Set,  Inkadinkado Flourishes Stamp Set, Vanilla CS, Burgundy CS, Turquoise CS, Tempting Turquoise Marker, Bashful Blue Marker, Air Brush (Stampin Up), Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilties, Circle Punch, Flower & Embroidery Floss from my stash, Pumpkin Pie Ink, Scallop Punch.

Pillow Box Basket

I found this tutorial at SplitCoastStampers for a Pillow Box Bucket made from using the SU Sizzix Pillow Box Die Cut.  I had to give it a go & it was quick & easy to put together.

Here’s the bottom.  I cut the circles out with Creative Memories Circle Cutters.

Used:  Hero Arts Clear Design Dolls Stamp Set, Pumpkin Pie Ink, Kraft CS, Cornucopia PP (Michaels), raft Ribbon, Rhinestone Brads, Scallop Edge Punch (SU), Circle Punches, Scalloped Circle Punch, Tutorial from Lynn Put at SCS.

Traveler’s Inspiration {FOUR}

This weeks Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge {four}, hosted by Tina at Travelingmama, comes from Savitri, at Scrapbit, who has this gorgeous picture she took in Rothenburg, Germany:

I thought I’d try one of those fun Flower Pot Pocket Cards, from Stephanie at SplitCoastStampers.

It’s a twist on the regular pocket card, that I thought was such a fun idea.  Pull out yur dirt & flowers & there’s your message.  Honestly, people are so clever.

Used:  Picket Fence & Vintage Photo Tim Holtz Crackle Paint, Fabric Brads, Sage Ribbon from Michaels, Really Rust CS, EK Success Edge Punch, Silk Flowers, Garden Green CS, Super Sticky Tape, Distressing Ink:  Antique Linen & Weathered Wood.

Fun with Borderabilities.

SplitCoastStampers has a contest on right now in conjunction with Spellbinders.  I don’t need any excuse to make something with my nesties, but this is a good reason for you if you haven’t tried ‘em.  You can create a card, layout, or altered item (tags in SCS upload Gallery as: Spellbinders_cardSpellbinders_layoutSpellbinders_altered) with any Spellbinders products, so I thought I’d use my Nestabilties (Ovals) & Borderabilities (12″ Grand Illumination Border):

I used some Groovy Guava CS (SU retired) that I found in my stash.   I cut out the Illumination Border twice (once for the front, embossed & once for the inside, not embossed).  I then just cut around with scissor on the Card to allow for the border to show through, like a lace & to hid the ugly bits, I just glued the two pieces together.  Easy peasy … here’s the inside.

Used:  Groovy Guava CS, White CS, Ribbon Bundle (SU Sale-a-bration ‘09), Nestabilities Ovals, Borderabilities (12″ Illumination Border), Sweet Little Sentiments Stamp Set, Certainly Celery Ink, Ranger Ink Applicator, Dimensionals, Super Sticky Tape.

Ghirardelli® Gift Box

Here’s a two-in-one.  I thought I’d try one of Beate’s Ghirardelli Boxes, tutorial on SplitCoastStampers,  in a Colour Inspiration, #9, from Paper Craft Planet.

The inspiration comes from J.Crew and it’s this outfit, which I LOVE & would wear in a heartbeat.  Rather than looking like this model, I would look much more like a frazzled Mum of 3, who’s New Years Resolutions are on the back burner, but in a great outfit.

The colours we were to use were (check out the Stampin’ Up Online Catty, if you’re unfamiliar with the colours) Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, & Very Vanilla.

Here’s the wee little box, just so cute & easy instructions by following Beate’s Tutorial.

‘Nutha pic, the front lace tab, sorta’ tucks under the sentiment.

You can see that it’s just pop dots/dimentional foam dots (I doubled, I don’t know why).

Here’s the back, nothing fancy & I don’t have the chocolates to go in them yet.

Be sure to check out other fun interpretations of this Colour Inspiration at Paper Craft Planet & this Ghirardelli® Box at Split Coast Stampers.

Used: Circle of Friendship & Punches Three Stamps Sets, Pacific Point Ink, Kiwi Kiss Ink, Regal Rose Ink, Pacific Point CS, Kiwi Kiss CS, Vanilla CS, Kelly Panacci Full Circle RMK4 PP, Martha Stewart Doily Edge Punch, Kiwi Kiss Ribbon, Circle Punches, Scallop Square Punch, Dimensionals, Sticky Tape.

Button Borders

I was perusing Split Coast Stampers today and saw this Scrapbooking Challenge Post for Button Borders, IFC22. The Contest started last week, so I don’t think I’ll be able to come near for points; however, it’s a wonderful motivator for me & if I can make even a few scrap layouts, it’s better than none.

Here’s the a link to the SCS Gallery for Button Borders for all the fabulous creations that have been submitted so far.

Here’s my layout.  I can’t seem to work in just one page, I always look at facing pages as one unit.  So here’s my ’stitched-buttoned’ scrapbook layout of our Bowling day, oh my almost a year ago.

Thanks, Jenn, for the fun inspiration.

Used:  Always Artichoke Textured CS, Always Artichoke DSP, Provo Craft Natural Pine (Debbie Crabtree Lewis) PP, Assorted Navy Buttons, Thread & Sewing Machine, Chalk Board Font, Mini Glue Dots.

Welcoming Patio

Here’s an inspiration courtesy of Beate!  Be Inspired Challenge #33 comes from Martha Stewart & her oh so inviting patio.  Wouldn’t you love to have something like this in the back yard?  I planted grapes this year, but it’ll be quite a few years before the vines take over.  I love the candles in the glass votives as a chandelier.  Did I mention it’s been snowing (the heavy wet snow) in Ottawa?  Maybe that’s why this image seemed so inviting that I had to have a go at it:

Here’s my card.  I used a rather forgotten about stamp set in my collection that I once adored called:  Fresh Fruits (S.U. retired).  I also used my new friend the Ranger Ink Blending Tool, so much cleaner than sponges.  Don’t know why I never used it before.  It’s a “good thing”.  lol

Thanks for the fun, Beate.  See you back on the 2nd of January.  Man, can I wait that long, I guess I’ll hafta!

I’m off to check out more fun interpretations at SplitCoastStampers BIC33.

Used:  Fresh Fruits (S.U. retired), So Saffron CS, Always Artichoke CS, Always Artichoke PP, Ivory CS, Always Artichoke Ink, Old Olive Ink, Summer Sun Ink, Ranger Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Ranger Antique Linen Distress Ink, Ranger blending applicator tool (felt pads),  Rectangle nestabilities, Antique Copper Brads, Tejas Lace Company Suede Lace, Dimensionals, Scallop Punch.

Sparkly Stain Glass

Thought I’d try out a technique I saw Beate use on SplitCoastStampers called Sparkly Stain Glass.  I’m not very good with glitter, always leaving a trail of sparkle & never really seems to stay put.  I tried to follow Beate’s tutorial, but still the glitter gives me problems.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s my go at Sparkly Stain Glass.

There are some amazing examples of this technique on SplitCoastStampers, check out Sparkly Stain Glass.

Used:  Ornaments Stamp-Unknown, Punch Pals, Wild Wasabi Ink, Versa Fine Ink, Spring Silhouettes DSP, Martha Stewart Glitter, Velvet (Craft) Ribbon, Square Coluzzle, Acetate, Crystal Effects Glue, Word Window Punch, Dimensionals.

1950’s Dress for Success.

Here’s a Saturday Inspiration IC155 from Steph over at SplitCoastStampers. The inspiration came from Mad Men. I must admit I haven’t seen the show, not sure if it’s my thing, but the images of the dresses Steph chose were so beautiful, I had to give this challenge a go.

Here’s some of the images of the high 1950’s Fashion:

My D80 is in the shop right now so for the next little while I’m back to using my point & shoot Nikon Cool Pix 4300. Handy dandy little thang & oh so light. No comments on the photos, k?

I used a 6″x6″ piece of CS & went by this really helpful, really clear origami lesson on You Tube. The side border is my new Spellbinders Nestabilities (well ‘Borderabilities‘). It’s a 12″ border one, but I just used a regular sandwich, since I don’t own the longer sandwich boards. I bought the borderabilities at Heather’s Stamping Haven in Ottawa.

For more fun interpretations, check out SplitCoastStampers IC155.

Used: SU Jumbo Wheel: So Swirly, Grafix Gold Foil on Ivory Paper, Bashful Blue CS, Bashful Blue Ink (although I think my wheel wasn’t clean & had some purple on it LOL), Clear Blue Snap, Dimensionals, Spellbinders Borderabilities 12″ Illumination Border (used in cuttlebug), bone folder for Origami.

Colourful Christmas

Wow, this was tough for me this week, Beate.  I fought with the purple & the bold colours.  I did have fun though with Beate’s Be Inspired Challenge #31.  Thanks, Beate!

This weeks inspiration comes from this mobile at Gifts Define:

After messing around for a while on birds & colours oh, my I just got off that track completely.

Here’s my card:
