Awesome Friendship

Time for Tina’s Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge {six}.  This week’s Traveler’s Inspiration photo from a friend of Tina’s, Katie & her recent trip to  Ireland.

This Challenge had me rummaging through boxes in the basement to find old photos of my girlfriend & my pre-university trip to Ireland.  Looking through the photos reminded me of how awesome friendship is.

In the boxes in the basement & I must appologize, as these are photos (of photos) not great pictures taken by a teenager & my point & shoot camera, more interested in living the trip than taking photos. Oh yes, the hair, it was August 1990. Bad Perm & stand up bangs. Stove Pipe Jeans, baggy shirts, & peach lipstick.  Sigh. I will not say anymore on that.

This first photo was taken in Glendalough. Absolutely stunning there:

The second was in Donegal, um was it Rossbeg? Anyhoo, I LOVED Donegal. It was windy that day.

The third photo (my GF) was taken at Kilbride House in Castleknock Village.

Shimmer

Tina at Travelingmama has posted her fifth Traveling Inspiration photo Challenge!  This week’s photo is from Clouds & where Claudia grew up in Belize.  Honestly, that is amazing.  No toboganing hills there, but gorgeous.

Here’s my take on the inspiration.  Just some time with Cuttlebug embossing die & Sizzix Die Cut & a few Shimmer Alpha Stickers from MM.  Very quick, actually, for yet another busy weekend.

Hang in there, Clouds.  My thoughts & Prayers are with you at this time of loss.

Used:  Kraft CS, Bordering Blue CS, Bashful Blue, & Brocade Blue CS, Sizzix Wave Die Cut, Cuttlebug Embossing folder, Making Memories ShimmerAlpha Stickers, Suede LAce from Texjas Lace Company.

Traveler’s Inspiration {FOUR}

This weeks Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge {four}, hosted by Tina at Travelingmama, comes from Savitri, at Scrapbit, who has this gorgeous picture she took in Rothenburg, Germany:

I thought I’d try one of those fun Flower Pot Pocket Cards, from Stephanie at SplitCoastStampers.

It’s a twist on the regular pocket card, that I thought was such a fun idea.  Pull out yur dirt & flowers & there’s your message.  Honestly, people are so clever.

Used:  Picket Fence & Vintage Photo Tim Holtz Crackle Paint, Fabric Brads, Sage Ribbon from Michaels, Really Rust CS, EK Success Edge Punch, Silk Flowers, Garden Green CS, Super Sticky Tape, Distressing Ink:  Antique Linen & Weathered Wood.

Traveler’s Inspiration: {three}

Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge: {three}, from Tina at Travelingmama and I am excited to say that Tina picked my picture of Liam getting ready to jump off the Cottage dock on Lac McGregor in Western Québec for this week’s Inspiration!

Lac McGregor, is one of the many lakes in Western Québec.  Québec is absolutely beautiful, IMO, especially in the autumn with the rolling hills & colourful trees.  For me to simplify:  La Belle Provence is skating/skiing in the Winter, it’s hiking/biking/driving in the Autumn, it’s maple syrup in the Spring, and it’s outdoor markets and cottages by the lake in the Summer.  Warning: the roads can be brutal (relatively) to get deep into cottage country, but that’s what makes it so beautiful–it’s so far from suburban life for us & only an hour away.
We are blessed to have friends who invite us up every year to this serene & friendly lake.  They have a floating dock with a canopy that we putter around the lake & when you feel like it, the kids just jump in the deep lake to cool off.  I think the water was low (really low) 70’s (F)/ low 20’s (C) temperature the last time we were there, but perfect for cooling off.  My kids love it there.  MalcolmLiam, and Emma-Sian all love it because it means times with family & friends, with food & laughter in a gorgeous setting.
Here’s my card, made with some left over wool, sewing maching & thread, toothpick, Kraft CS, Really Rust CS/marker, Sahara Sand Ink/CS, Martha Stewart Clear Stamps, & some dimensionals.

I made one more for the challenge, because I love that dock.  Here’s my Woody Card:

Okay, okay, maybe I used a few too many brad/nails, but honestly, such a cool technique, for cryin’ out loud, it makes WOOD PLANKS!  How neat & super easy.  The tutorial is from  Kim Teasdale at SplitCoastStampers.  I forgot to sponge the edges of the planks & I didn’t use nesties, just a paper trimmer & an exacto knife for 45 degree mitres.  :)

I must admit, I own a few CB EFolders, but I didn’t have this one, because I couldn’t see what on earth I would use it for.  Psych!  I ventured out when I saw the SCS tutorial.  Here’s the Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes close up:

Used:  More Mustard CS, Close To Cocoa Ink, Chocolate Chip Ink, & Creamy Caramel Ink, MM Antique Copper Brads, Distressed Stripes Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Chocolate Chip CS, Vanilla CS, Copics:  CO Cool Gray, N3 Neutral Gray, B06 Peacock Blue, B14 Light Blue, dimensionals, Clear EP, Versafine Black Onyx Ink.  One of a Kind SU Stamp Set, Pacific Point Ink.  I bought the little owl stamp & twig branch from Heather’s Stampin’ Haven, individually, but they’re from Hero Arts.

Road Trip!

Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge {two} & this weeks inspiration photo comes from Anthonette of Chavez Designs.  I love Anthonette’s Creativity-the girl makes amazing card after amazing card.  Here’s her inspiration photo from Taos, New Mexico.

Here’s my card, very simple, but I think I need to get a new White Chalk Ink, this one is a bit dull.  It was fun to make, thanks Tina for hosting this fun challenge & thanks Anthonette for the inspiration!

Used:  Kraft CS, Tempting Turquoise CS, Martha Stewart PP, Uniball White Gel Pen, dimensionals, Mini Mongrams Cartridge (Cricut Machine), Road Trip Inkadinkado Clear Stamps, Alabaster Colorbox Chalk Ink, Corner Rounder.

Traveler’s Journey

I was very excited when Tina mentioned she was starting a Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge, where folks to share their photos (see details here) & their crafts–all & any creations.  How FUN!  Especially for the summer!

The first challenge comes from these gorgeous shoes from Tina.  Man, she & her DH take AMAZING photos, especially with portraits, capturing their moments in time.

I went with some Grunge Board from Tim Holtz & some beads from my kids :) craft collection.  I used Tombo Glue directly onto the grunge board, then beads, then added Glossy Accents over top to secure the beads.  Except for the drying time of the glue (it’s MOSTLY DRY here), this was a fast card to make.

Used:  Tim Holtz Grunge Board, EK Success Edge Punch, Tim Holtz stampersanonymous clear stamps, Versafine Black Ink, White CS, Tombo Multi Glue, Glossy Accents Ranger Glue.
