Catch Up.

Although I’ve been making time to have some fun with challenges this past week, I haven’t really posted anything.  Little bit of catch up.  So two challenges in 1 :)

This is for the Tuesday 3D Challenge, 3d36 Winter Box, posted by Adela.

I used the Stampin’ Up Pillow Box & added onto it a bit. Also used Merry Moments DSP (LOVE IT) & the new delightful Decorations Stamp Set, with the punch to match.  Fun challenge & would be a fun treat holder.

The second treat holder, also from the 3D challenge posted by Kim Burmeister, 3d37, is a Snowman Treat Holder.  Fits a Chocolate Bar, just right.  What, no chocolate bar in the photo … I have a sweet tooth.  ’Nuf said.

It is 1 peice of 7 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ piece of heavy water colour paper, scored & partially trimmed with Xacto Knife.

SU Bordering Blue Marker, Bashful Blue Marker, Pretty in Pink Marker, Blush Blossom Marker & CO N.0 Cool Gray Copic Marker & a SU Aquapainter.

The “buttons” are from the centres of flowers in the Decorative Daisy SU Set. For the stitching on the hat, used Provo Craft Clear Impressions Acrylic Stamps.

White EP, Black EP, Orange EP, Versamark Ink, Clear Mini Glue Dots.

Black CS, Tango Tangerine CS, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (although you can’t see it here) used with Heat ‘n Stick Powder.

I must admit, if I had to make a bunch of these for kid’s classmates, I would use the printable snowman from Samantha Parisi I saw while surfing.

Thanks for the fun inspiration, Kim & Adela!

Just Odd

So the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge was posted last Saturday & today, Thursday is the deadline for the 47th Challenge of “Forest Gump”.  I have not missed a challenge, not sure how, with vacations, but I haven’t missed one & didn’t want to miss this one.  So I had 10 minutes today to do something before picking the older children up from school (now walking with my youngest AND the puppy).  Have I come up with enough excuses for this odd submission to the challenge?

My DH sat & read Forest gump one summer vacation, all in a lazy cabin day & loved it.  We went to see the movie the following year, I believe.  I giggled at the whole Bubba Shrimp bit.  We have a running joke of “boiled shrimp, broiled shrimp, baked shrimp, shrimp gumbo …. ” I’m not sure why it’s so funny to me but it is.  I also love shrimp & whenever we the neighbours get together, somebody is guaranteed to make a shrimp dish.  Enter one neighbour’s dh who is tragically allergic to shrimp. AAAAHHHH can’t imagine, but he is always asking, “does this have shrimp/crab in it?”  This is where I came with this odd idea.  It will be used, this autumn, for sure.  I can hear it now, “Amy, you have too much time on your hands”.

Did you know that there’s not a shrimp stamp-that I could find, anyway.  I took some water colour paper & went at it with the aquapainter & a bit of Embossing Powder.

Used:  Bamboo Skewer, Chocolate Chip 1 1/4″ Gross Grain Ribbon, Pink Pirouette Ink, Only Orange Ink, Simple Shapes Stamp Set (SU), Bienfang Canvasette Paper Canvas 170 lb Heavy Weight Water Paper Rough Surface Matte Finish, Pink Embossing Powder (SU retired), Versa mark Ink, Aqua Painter, Corner Punch.

Watercolouring with Markers (1st attempt)

Okay so I saw the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers from Julie Buhler, man she makes it look easy, or maybe I’m just challenged. I struggled a bit with this. I think it looks like the shadows & highlights are mixed up, dunno, just doesn’t feel good by me, but I’m not giving up … here’s my first go.

Had the Stazon (perm ink), the aquapainter & some markers. I popped over to the store to pick up heavy weighted paper. I couldn’t find 140 lb cold press (as per instructions) The store had 135lb & 170 lb (I thought the heavier the better) but maybe not. It looks like cross stitch fabric. I used my S.U. Colour Spritzer Tool to air brush some colour on the b/ground c/stock.

And here’s where the card ended up:

Like I said, I am NOT giving up. I have a pile of paper to play with still!

Here are some people who know what they’re doing at the SCS Gallery for Watercolouring with Markers
